Can you visit the USS Texas?
The Battleship TEXAS become the Nations first Battleship museum on 21 April 1948. Located at the San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site in La Porte, Texas (just out side of Houston, TX). We are open daily to the public 7 days a week from 10am - 5:30pm. The ship is under the care of Texas Parks and Wildlife.
Is the USS Texas permanently closed?
The Battleship Texas will open for the July 4 weekend, the Battleship Foundation said. The ship has been closed for more than a year and a half for major repairs. The foundation said its permanent reopening is expected in 2023.
Why is the USS Texas permanently closed?
Crews are working to repair major leaks and stop flooding on board the historic Battleship Texas in Houston. As a result, the site is closed to the public until further notice.
